‘The Magic Flute’ by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was Hans Liska’s favourite opera. While working he usually played The Magic Flute all day long in his atelier on his record player.

‘The Magic Flute’ by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was Hans Liska’s favourite opera. He loved music - especially opera. While working in his atelier, he usually listened to The Magic Flute all day long on his record player.

He would turn the volume up to focus down on his detailed and moving paintings, often several times in a row. His favourite piece was "Der Vogelfänger bin ich ja...".

Liska fell in love with Salzburg at the end of the 1950s and from then on attended the Salzburg Festival almost every year as a press illustrator. He skilfully captured the grandiose stage sets and character scenes in numerous lively sketches and drawings.

As an admirer of the performing arts, he also regularly attended many other major stage festivals such as Bayreuth and Oberammergau.
